butterfly diagram A schematic of plotted data representing a tilting resultant force vector moving forwards. This data is collected from a force platform and reproduced by the software as a butterfly shaped set of vectors. Each vector is recorded at 20 ms intervals. Butterfly diagrams can be used to represent reaction forces that act on the foot during normal gait, and identify abnormal forces acting on the foot in pathological gaits. |
