Efimov, Anatolii Nikolaevich

 

Born July 3 (16), 1908, in the city of Troitsk, in present-day Cheliabinsk Oblast. Soviet economist, academician of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1970). Became a member of the CPSU in 1948.

Efimov graduated from the Ural Polytechnic Institute in 1937. Between 1937 and 1948 he worked at the institute as a teacher. From 1948 to 1955 he directed the department of economic research of the Ural branch of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and in 1955 became director of the scientific research institute of economics of the State Planning Committee of the USSR. Efimov’s scientific research has dealt with the economics of socialist industry and the analysis and planning of the proportions of the national economy on the basis of intersectorial balances. For his development of the latter, Efimov was awarded the State Prize of the USSR in 1968. From 1961 to 1965 he served as chief editor of the Economic Encyclopedia: Industry and Construction. Efimov is one of the authors and scientific editors of the monograph Economic Planning in the USSR (1967). He has been awarded the Order of the Red Banner of Labor and medals.
