[′kyü·myə·ləs mē·dē′ō·krəs ‚klau̇d] (meteorology) A cloud species unique to the species cumulus, of moderate vertical development, the upper protuberances or sproutings being not very marked; there may be a small cauliflower aspect; while this species does not give any precipitation, it frequently develops into cumulus congestus and cumulonimbus.
