Dilg, Will

(1867–1927) conservationist; born in Milwaukee, Wis. A well-known writer for outdoor magazines, he established the Izaak Walton League in 1922 to lobby for environmental protection and wilderness preservation. As president of the league (1922–26), he fought to save Superior National Forest in Minnesota from commercial exploitation and set up a fund to save starving elk in Jackson Hole, Wyo.
