Deformation Meter
Deformation Meter
a device for evaluation of the plastic and elastic properties of latex and rubber mixtures by selecting the load applied to the sample being tested. A deformation meter determines the elastic and viscous properties of the sample—its rigidity, residual deformation, and resiliency. A sample that has been preheated to 80° C in a thermostatic chamber is placed in a test chamber and compressed. The stress is transmitted to the sample through a lever mechanism. Signaling devices (electric timers and acoustic relays) are used to ensure accuracy and convenience of testing. A micrometer is used to measure the height of the sample. Deformation meters are used in industrial plants that manufacture latex and rubber mixtures or use them as production materials.
