Bush Group-I enzyme

Bush Group-I enzyme

A chromosomal beta-lactamase which, unlike common beta-lactamase, is a plasmid enzyme found in enterobacters and other enteric bacteria; its importance hinges on its complete resistance to beta-lactam antibiotics. ± 30% of strains of Enterobacter cloacae, E aerogenes and Citrobacter freundii, Serratia marcescens and Pseudomonas aeruginosa have significant amounts of this enzyme.
