Burton, Theodore (Elijah)

(1851–1929) U.S. representative/senator; born in Jefferson, Ohio. A lawyer, he served in the U.S. House of Representatives (Rep., Ohio; 1889–91, 1895–1909), and the Senate (1909–15). He returned to the House (1921–28), then left to fill a Senate vacancy (1928–29). He also served on waterways and armament commissions.
