Burshtyn State Regional Electric Power Plant

 

a condensation electric power plant. Located in the village of Burshtyn, Ivano-Frankovsk Oblast, Ukrainian SSR. It operates on coal from the L’vov-Volynskii basin. Construction was begun in 1962. The first two units, with a capacity of 200 megawatts (thousand kW) and having boiler plants with a steam production capacity of 640 tons per hour at a pressure of 14 meganewtons per sq m (140 kilograms-force per sq cm), were put into service in 1965. The design capacity of 2, 400 MW was attained in 1969. The electric power generated is delivered over electric transmission lines at voltages of 220, 330, and 400 kV to the combined Western Ukraine, South, and Mir power systems.
