[sĕ-riv´ah-stat″in] an inhibitor of an enzyme involved in the biosynthesis of cholesterol; used as an adjunct in the treatment of hyperlipidemia. Withdrawn in the United States because it is associated with an increased risk for rhabdomyolysis.
