[¦flu̇r·ō¦plas·tiks] (materials) A family of plastics based on fluorine replacement of hydrogen atoms in hydrocarbon molecules; includes polytetrafluoroethylene (PTFE), polychlorotrifluoroethylene (PCTFE), polyvinylidene fluoride, and fluorinated ethylene propylene (FEP). Also known as fluoropolymers.
