释义 | Donovan, HedleyDonovan, Hedley (Williams)(1914–90) editor; born in Brainerd, Minn. Starting as a reporter for the Washington Post (1937–42), he joined Fortune magazine in 1945 and rose to managing editor (1953–59); becoming chief deputy to Henry Luce, he succeeded him as editor in chief of Time, Inc. (1964–79), with responsibility for all its publishing ventures. On retiring in 1979, he served as an advisor to President Carter (1979–80), then taught at Harvard and Oxford. |
