Kasimzade, Enver Ali Ogly

 

Born Jan. 30 (Feb. 12), 1912, in Sal’iany, in present-day Azerbaijan SSR; died Mar. 12, 1969, in Baku. Soviet architect and professor. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the Azerbaijan SSR (1967). Honored Builder of the Azerbaijan SSR. Became a member of the CPSU in 1941.

In 1936, Kasimzade graduated from the Azerbaijan Polytechnic Institute in Baku. From 1962 to 1968 he was the rector of the institute. His works in Baku include the Azneft’proekt building (Azerbaijan Petroleum Project; 1957) and the Ulduz subway station (1967). He also produced designs for standard multistory apartment buildings in Baku. Kasimzade was awarded four orders and various medals.
