Burliuk, David Davidovich
Born July 9 (21), 1882, in the hamlet of Semirotovshchina, Kharkov Province; died Feb. 10, 1967, in New York. Russian poet and artist.
Burliuk’s first works were published in 1899. He was the organizer of a group of cubist-futurists. In 1913 and 1914 he toured Russia with a group of futurists which included V. V. Mayakovsky and V. V. Kamenskii. He emigrated in 1920, and from 1922 he lived in the USA, where he worked primarily on his painting. He visited the USSR in 1956.
