Bureau of Federal Credit Unions Bureau of Federal Credit UnionsA former agency of the U.S. federal government that chartered and regulated federal credit unions. It was a subset of several different divisions of the government throughout its history. It belonged at various times to the Farm Credit Agency, the FDIC, the Social Security Administration and the now-defunct Department of Health, Education, and Welfare. As the number of credit unions increased, the Bureau was replaced by the National Credit Union Administration. It existed from 1934 to 1970. |
