Duron

Duron

An early value line of 32-bit, Pentium-compatible CPU chips from AMD. Introduced in 2000 to compete with Intel's Celerons, Durons were pin compatible with AMD's Athlon chips, but had less cache and slower frontside buses. In desktop and mobile versions, Duron clock speeds ranged from 600 MHz to 1.8 GHz. The Duron family was superseded by Sempron in 2004. See Sempron and AMD.
