Buor-Khaia Bay

 

(also Borkhaia Bay), a gulf of the Laptev Sea, southeast of the Lena River delta. Its length is 120 km, its width 110 km at the entrance, and its maximum depth 18 m. It is covered with ice most of the year. The water temperature at the surface is usually 7-9° C in the summer; the salt content is about 5 parts per thousand. The bay has two tides a day of a magnitude of 0.3 m. The port of Tiksi is located in the northwestern part of Buor-Khaia Bay.
