Aristides of Miletus

 

Greek writer who lived during the second or first century B.C.

Aristides’ Milesian Tales in six books is the first example of short-story writing with an erotic content. The stories of Aristides had an influence on Ovid, Petronius, Apuleius, and Lucian. The Greek original has not been preserved; only scanty fragments in Latin translation are still in existence.
