duodenoscopy

Direct examination of the interior of the DUODENUM by means of a fibreoptic, steerable ENDOSCOPE. This is valuable in the diagnosis of DUODENAL ULCER and of cancer affecting the head of the PANCREAS or the region of the entrance of the bile and pancreatic ducts (the ampulla of Vater).
