Evgenii Ivanovich Kapustin
Kapustin, Evgenii Ivanovich
Born Oct. 24, 1921, in the village of Okorokovo, Kaliazin Raion, Kalinin Oblast. Soviet economist. Corresponding member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR (1976). Member of the CPSU since 1942.
A veteran of the Great Patriotic War of 1941–45, Kapustin graduated from the department of economics at Moscow State University in 1949. He became director of the Labor Scientific Research Institute in 1965. In 1967 he was also appointed chairman of the subdepartment of labor economics at Moscow State University. In 1971 he was named director of the Institute of Economics of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR and became a professor in the subdepartment of political economy of the department of economics at Moscow State University. Kapustin’s principal works have dealt with the political economy of socialism and problems of mode of life, standards of living, distribution, the organization of wages and material incentives, and the scientific organization of labor.
Kapustin has been awarded five orders and various medals.
