Adamova, Evgeniia Mikhailovna

 

Born Dec. 24, 1912 (Jan. 6, 1913), in Livny, Orel Province. Soviet painter. People’s Artist of the Turkmen SSR (1964).

Adamova studied with A. I. Khvorostenko from 1935 to 1939 at the art school in Ashkhabad and also with I. I. Cherin’ko. Her paintings, many of which are portraits, depict Turkmen life. They include At Leisure (1948) and a portrait of Khaltach Saparkulieva (1955); I’ll Study Anyway! (1957) and Turkmen Mothers—For the Homeland (1967) both won the Makhtumkuli State Prize of the Turkmen SSR in 1968. All these paintings are in the Museum of Fine Arts of the Turkmen SSR in Ashkhabad.
