Emanzhelinsk
a city in Cheliabinsk Oblast, RSFSR. Population, 33,000 (1970). The city is situated on the shore of Lake Bol’shoi Sarykul’, 7 km from the railroad station of Emanzhelinsk on the Cheliabinsk-Kartaly line and 56 km south of Cheliabinsk. Having come into being in 1930–31 with the development of a coal field, it became a city in 1951. It is the site of coal extraction, the construction of machinery, building-materials production, and garment-making. Emanzhelinsk has an evening mining technicum.
