Doklady Akademii Nauk SSSR

 

(DAN; Reports of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR), a scientific journal devoted to the first publication of the most important results of scientific research in the physical, mathematical, chemical, geological, and biological sciences conducted at the scientific institutions of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR, at the academies of sciences of the Union republics, at institutions of higher learning, and at the branch scientific research institutions under the ministries and departments of the USSR. Innovative in theory and methodology, the articles in DAN are published upon presentation by academicians.

DAN has been publishing since October 1933 in Moscow three times a month (36 issues annually combined into six volumes). From 1922 to 1925 the journal was published under the title Doklady Rossiiskoi Akademii nauk (Reports of the Russian Academy of Sciences), and from 1926 to 1933 as Doklady Akademii nauk SSSR, series A and B (series A contained articles in physics and mathematics and series B, those in history and philology). Since 1965, along with the general (summaiial) publication, DAN series are also published (Mathematics and Physics, Chemistry, Geology, and Biology). These series publish separately the same materials as the summarial edition. The circulation of DAN (1971) totals 8,200.
