a proto-Bulgarian clan, from which the Khan dynasty traces its descent. The Khan dynasty ruled the Bulgarian state from its founding in 680 until 739. The most famous members of the Dulo clan were Kurt (Kubrat, who was apparently the founder of the clan and khan from 584 to 642), Asparukh (from about 643 to 701 or 702), and Tervel (from 701 or 702 to 718).
