Cryptocephalus
a large genus of beetles of the family Chrysomelidae. The cylindrical body is 2–9 mm long; it usually is brightly colored and often has a metallic sheen. The head may be retracted. Of the approximately 1,000 species distributed throughout the world, about 250 are present in the USSR. The beetles feed on leaves; Crytocephalus pini injures pine trees.
