Bucharest Demonstration of 1918
a demonstration of many thousands of workers staged on December 13 (26) in support of striking printing workers. It was held under the slogans “For the Eight-Hour Working Day!,” “Land to the Peasants!,” and “Hail the Russian Revolution!” The government ordered that the demonstrators be fired at (more than 100 killed and hundreds wounded) and arrested more than 500 participants. The shooting provoked new manifestations of solidarity.
