EverniaEverniathe genus of lichens of the family Usneaceae. The soft bushy thallus consists of narrow cylindrical or oblate branching blades. The upper surface is greenish gray, and the lower surface is whitish. The lichens contain everninic acid, usnic acid, and other lichen acids. There are about 15 species, growing on the trunks and limbs of trees and, less commonly, in the soil. The USSR has about eight species.
