BuccinumBuccinuma genus of gastropods whose shells reach a height of 16 cm. There are 65 species, distributed from the littoral to abyssal zones in temperate and frigid oceanic waters of the northern hemisphere. The mollusks are saprophages and predators. Their development does not include pelagic larvae. Buccinum are hunted for their beautiful shells and for the edible muscular outgrowth of their ventral wall. |
