(ē'lī sīn) Indicator of femoral nerve irritation, lateral thigh contracture, or tightness of the rectus femoris muscle. Test is conducted with patient in prone position with knee passively flexed. Sign is considered positive when hip flexes on same side. Synonym(s): Ely test.
