Location:3 miles east of Clinton in central Illinois.
Facilities:17 Class AA campsites (electric, water, sewer hookups; showers), 286Class A campsites (electric hookups, showers), 5 Class B/S sites (withshowers; adaptable to tents, trailers, or motorhomes), a youth or adultgroup camp area (accommodates up to 75; no showers), picnic areas,shelters, playgrounds, restrooms, 3 hiking trails, multi-use trail, 6boat ramps, canoe launch, fishing pier, beach, food concession (é).
Activities:Camping, boating, canoeing, sailing, fishing, swimming, water-skiing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, ice skating, ice fishing, snowmobiling, cross-country skiing.
Special Features:Park's 4,900-acre lake features excellent fishing for crappie, catfish,walleye, and striped bass. The property actually belongs to IllinoisPower Company, which operates a nuclear power plant in the area, andhas been operated as a state park since 1978 through a long-term leasewith the utility company. Note: Effective 5/18/05 the Valley Mill Bankfishing area, Peninsula and Lane day use areas, and West Side shelterare closed indefinitely.
