Duffy blood group a red blood cell ANTIGEN found in certain human racial groups, controlled by a single autosomal gene on chromosome 1. Around 65% of Caucasians and 99% of Chinese are positive for the antigen being either homozygous or heterozygous for the allele Fy+, while 92% of West Africans are not, being homozygous for Fy- alleles.Duffy, surname of the patient in whom this antigen was first found in 1950.
