Agent Green

Agent Green

A popular term for one of the multicoloured herbecide defoliants used during the Vietnam War, so named for the green stripes painted on the outside of the barrels. Only 20,000 gallons of Agent Green were used from 1962 to 1964, compared to 20,000,000 gallons of Agent Orange. Agent Green only had one active ingredient, 2,4,5-trichlorophenoxyacetic acid (2,4,5-T) and significant amounts of dioxin, which were a contaminant that occurred during 2,4,5-T’s manufacture.
