one of the most picturesque canyons of the Colorado Plateau, in the USA. The canyon coincides with a fault line. It was cut into a thickness of limestone and sandstone of the Eocene epoch. It reaches depths of 250 m. A large area (more than 14,000 hectares) surrounding Bryce Canyon was designated a national park in 1928.
