Edge-Bonding Machine
Edge-Bonding Machine
a machine used to bond the longitudinal edges of strips of veneer. In this process, strips of veneer are pressed together by conical rollers, and the seam is then bonded with gummed paper tape or coated with a heated thermoplastic that joins the edges upon cooling. The veneer strip is fed to the machine at rates varying from 10 to 40 m/min. Such machines are used in the production of plywood and in veneering.
