[′dek·ən bə′sȯlt] (geology) Fine-grained, nonporphyritic, tholeiitic basaltic lava consisting essentially of labradorite, clinopyroxene, and iron ore; found in the Deccan region of southeastern India. Also known as Deccan trap.
