Dienas Lapa
Dienas Lapa
(Daily Bulletin), Latvian newspaper. Published from 1886 to 1905. Dienas Lapa adhered to Marxist and social democratic ideas beginning in 1893 and became the central organ of the New Tendency, a group formed by the revolutionary intelligentsia. The editors of the newspaper included P. Stuchka (1888-91; 1895–97) and J. Rainis (1891-95). The New Tendency group was crushed and the newspaper was closed in 1897. Dienas Lapa later adopted a bourgeois point of view. For a short time in 1905, under the editor J. Janson-Braun, it propagated progressive ideas.
