CLEC4E
CLEC4E
A gene on chromosome 12p13.31 that encodes a C-type lectin domain protein which acts as a cell surface receptor for an array of ligands, including damaged cells (e.g., SAP130, a nuclear protein released by dying cells), fungi (e.g., alpha-mannose residues on the genus Malassezia) and mycobacteria (e.g., trehalose 6,6’-dimycolate (TDM), a cell wall glycolipid). CLEC4E transduces signals through an ITAM-containing adapter protein, Fc receptor gamma chain (FCER1G) andinduces secretion of inflammatory cytokines through a pathway that depends on SYK, CARD9 and NF-kappaB.
