CDH6
CDH6
A gene on chromosome 5p13.3 that encodes a calcium-dependent cell–cell adhesion glycoprotein (cadherin), which is involved in regulating cell–cell adhesions, mobility and proliferation of epithelial cells. CDH6 is a so-called type-II (atypical) cadherin—which lacks a HAV cell adhesion recognition sequence specific to type-I cadherins—and may play a role in kidney, endometrial and placenta development. It is highly expressed in the brain, cerebellum and kidneys.Molecular pathology
Decreased CDH6 expression is linked to tumour growth and metastasis.
