A clinical test used to localise the source of shoulder pain.
Method
Examiner stabilises the trunk by placing the hand on the posterior shoulder while horizontally abducting the shoulder of interest. Superior shoulder pain indicates acromioclavicular pathology; anterior pain indicates subscapularis, supraspinatus and/or biceps long head pathology; posterior pain indicates infraspinatus, teres minor and/or posterior capsule pathology.
