flu jab flu jab A popular term for a vaccine developed to protect against the strains of flu virus which are expected to be most prevalent during a particular winter. It provides 70–80% protection against the strains of flu included in the vaccination and lasts for a year. It is offered to people in at-risk groups (e.g., pregnant women and the elderly) who are at greater risk of developing serious complications if they catch flu. |
