BrocketBrocketan artiodactylous ungulate of the genus Mazama of the family Cervidae. There are four species. The body length is 90-130 cm. The height at the shoulder is 43-70 cm and at the sacrum it is somewhat greater. The weight is 18-25 kg. Only the males have antlers, which are small and unbranched. The color ranges from light to dark brown, with the underparts of the body being lighter. The brocket is found in America from southern Mexico to Paraguay. It keeps hidden and is solitary or associates in pairs. It inhabits tropical forests, feeding on grass, leaves, and shoots. Breeding occurs throughout the year.
