Broceni

an urban-type settlement in Saldus Raion, Latvian SSR, on the shore of Ciecere Lake. Railroad station on the Jelgava-Liepaja line. Population, 5,100 (1968). Broceni has a cement and slate combine, a spirits and starch factory, and a limestone quarry. There is a technicum of construction and veterinary science.
