CD207

CD207

A gene on chromosome 2p13 that encodes a calcium-dependent mannose-binding lectin, expressed only by Langerhans cells of the pancreas, which induces Birbeck granule formation. It binds to sulphated and mannosylated glycans, keratan sulfate and beta-glucans, facilitates uptake of antigens, and is involved in routing and processing of antigens for presentation to T cells. CD207 is a major receptor on Langerhans cells for Candida spp and Malassezia furfur; it protects against HIV-1 infection.
