film recorder[′film ri‚kȯrd·ər] (electronics) A device which places data, usually in the form of transparent and opaque spots or light and dark spots, on photographic film. film recorderA device that creates a 35mm slide or film negative from a digital file. Scanning at high resolutions, generally from 2,000 to 4,000 lines, the film recorder typically works by recreating the image on a built-in CRT that shines through a color wheel onto the film. Some units provide optional Polaroid camera backs for instant previewing. Early film recorders were connected to desktop computers by plugging in a controller board cabled to the recorder. |
