Location:25 miles west of Clarksville, Tennessee.
Facilities:Visitor center, trails, auto tour route, boat launch.
Activities:Boating, fishing, hiking, biking, hunting.
Special Features:Refuge encompasses 12 miles of the Cumberland River (Lake Barkley) and is home to 650 species of plants and 490 species of birds, mammals, fish, reptiles, and amphibians.
Habitats: 8,862 acres of wetlands, woodlands, croplands, grasslands, and open water.
Access: Closed to public entry November 15 to March 15 to minimize disturbances to wintering waterfowl and nesting bald eagles. During the remainder of the year, the refuge is open during daylight hours.
Wild life: Geese, ducks, raptors, shorbirds, wading birds, neo-tropical migratory birds, white-tailed deer, squirrel, and turkey.
