CCR-1 CCR1 A gene on chromosome 3p21 that encodes a member of the beta chemokine receptor family, whose ligands include macrophage inflammatory protein 1 (MIP-1) alpha, regulated on activation normal T expressed and secreted protein (RANTES), monocyte chemoattractant protein 3 (MCP-3) and myeloid progenitor inhibitory factor-1 (MPIF-1). The protein product transduces a signal by increasing intracellular calcium, and drives stem cell proliferation.CCR-1 RANTES–Regulated upon Activation Normal T-cell Expressed & Secreted AIDS, Molecular medicine A chemokine for CCR-5 receptor which blocks the entry of M-tropic strains of HIV, which preferentially infect macrophages; it is secreted by CD8 T cells, platelets, renal epithelial, and mesangial cells, and is chemoattractive for basophils, eosinophils, monocytes, and T cells; it activates basophils, inducing histamine release.
