Feed-steaming Plant

Feed-steaming Plant

an installation or equipment for heat treatment of feeds (food wastes, concentrates, and succulent and coarse fodder) before feeding them to farm animals. A steaming and mixing plant, such as the VKS-3M, and a feed-preparation unit are used in steaming feed.

The feed is loaded into the boiler of the feed-steaming plant, and steam from a steam boiler is fed into it. The steaming lasts about 40 minutes. Then the steam is cut off, the concentrates are loaded into the boiler, and the mass is mixed with a paddle mixer driven by an electric motor. The finished feed is loaded into a container for supply to the animals. The capacity of the unit is 1.0-1.5 tons per hr; steam consumption per centner of produce is 15 kg. The plant may be run by one operator.
