Dobrynichi

a village 20 km northwest of the city of Sevsk in present-day Briansk Oblast, near which a battle occurred on Jan. 21, 1605, between the 23,000-man army of False Dmitrii I and the 20,000-man army of Prince F. I. Mstislavskii. In the battle False Dmitrii I was defeated and almost taken prisoner, but he managed to escape to Putivl’; while there, he continued the struggle against Boris Godunov and his troops.
