a city (since 1940), administrative center of Bereza Raion, in Brest Oblast, Byelorussian SSR, on the Iasel’da River (Dnieper Basin). On the Moscow-Warsaw highway, 6 km from the Bereza-Kartuz railroad station. Population, 7,500 (1968). There are enterprises for reinforced concrete parts, engine repair, and metal structurals and a lime industry. There are butter and cheese plants and a building materials combine. There is a museum of revolutionary history. The Bereza District Power Plant is 26 km southeast of the city.
