A diet developed by Dr William G Crook, which he believed to be of use in treating the so-called candida hypersensitivity syndrome (yeast syndrome). Eliminated from Crook’s regimen are refined starches and sugars, foods made from yeasts (e.g., breads and pastries), alcohol, vinegar, soy sauce, buttermilk, sour cream (or other food products produced by fermentation), coffee, tea, dairy products, dried fruits, vegetables, herbs, smoked fish and meats, fruits, mushrooms and chocolate; the Crook diet is high in fat and cholesterol.
