Diapiric Core

the core of an anticlinal fold. A diapiric core is formed by complexly crumpled argillaceous rock or saliferous rock that is often crushed into breccia. Such a core, in the form of a plug, penetrates or ruptures the overlying strata that constitute the limbs of the anticline.
